We’ve all been offered the choice—good news first or bad news first—but with God the order is fixed. The stunning promise of confession and cleansing leads the way, yet to deny that we’ve sinned at all is to call God a liar and land in a dire, eternal situation. Soft hearts and sharp minds are the antidote: agree with God about the dirty nature of what we’ve done, and let the blood of Jesus wash us clean, forgiven, and free.
