Put everything in life on equal footing and it turns into a mess. The order of priorities comes straight out of Scripture: God first, family second, church third, work fourth, and recreation fifth. Priorities slip if they aren’t kept up, so a wise believer rethinks them regularly, the way a phone gets charged every night. At the top of the list is God’s Word. First of all, no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation or up for philosophical debate. God is the source, the Holy Spirit is the means, and the human author is the instrument in His hands. God caused His Word, preserved it, and makes it alive. He uses it to convict us of sin, give us new birth, consecrate us to Himself, and complete us. Don’t let it become one opinion among many. Start with it, because anything that contradicts it won’t last.
