True friendship requires more than encouragement and agreement; sometimes it demands the courage to speak an uncomfortable truth. While harsh honesty without compassion can wound, affection without truth can leave someone heading toward disaster. Genuine love seeks another person’s good, even when that means offering correction. Speaking the truth in love builds stronger relationships, promotes spiritual maturity, and protects others from unnecessary pain.
